Not The Potato State Anymore, Bitches.

Idaho is known for it's potatoes.  Hell, even "Famous Potatoes" is on our license plates.

We have towns that do annual Spud Day festivals.  We have towns with potato museums.  This really is tater country.

Well... it was.

Recent news stories are reporting that corn has taken over Idaho as the #1 planted crop.  Corn production has increased nearly 22 percent when compared to last season.  As demand is increasing (corn sales prices increased 5%) and seeds are being bred to handle the Idaho weather, corn production is bound to increase.

So, what does that mean to the potatoes?  What does that mean to the *snrk* millions that come to Idaho each year to learn about how the Tater State helps keep french fries on your plate?

Does this mean we are going to go after Nebraska's team name, and become the Boise State Cornhuskers?  Or maybe a variation?

Cornshuckers?

Cornholes?

At least there will be more corn mazes this year.  Even the blondes get to have more fun:

Watch the documentary "King of Corn." It shows why America makes more corn than any other crop. There's so much corn we can male corn houses for homeless people, feed them corn for every meal, make a corn family for them, and give them all jobs delivering corn in a corn car to every family and still have enough to make corn pets for every little boy and girl. Boo corn. Yayy potatoes...or lament potatoes.

That is quite sad. I think potatos are much more awesome than corn!

I like potatoes over corn any day, but potatoes cannot compete if corn is subsidized by the government.

There is corn crops everywhere here where I live. I would LOVE to have potatoes. Heck I have potatoes with every meal, even though I shouldn't. Corn on the cob is pretty damn great too.
