Alcoholic Capri-Sun Drinks for Grown-Ups? Rock On!

When I was a child, Capri-Sun drinks were a coveted treat.  They weren't too different from your run of the mill juice boxes, except they weren't boxes.  They were these cool squishy foil pouches.

Something about being different made them stand out, and all the cool kids were seen with these instead of boxes.

You also had to have had some amount of skill to get the straw in the pouch without fucking things up.  It wasn't just a game of "find the hole and stick it in" like the normal juice boxes.  This one was at a funny angle, and took finesse...

(ladies, read into that as much as you like... don't hold back... need a second to collect yourself?  I'll wait...)

As an adult, I have had Capri Sun's from time to time, and I still love the look and the 'different' aspect.  Often times I have wondered "Why don't they make these for grown ups?  Maybe drinks with more adult tastes?"

"WHAT ABOUT AN ALCOHOLIC CAPRI SUN???"

And then I found them at the local Walmart (I know, I know...)  They are Daily's frozen wine-cooler pouches, and come in flavors like Mojito, Spiked Lemonade, Strawberry Daiquiri, Margarita and others.

They're 5% alcohol, and they were about $2 each.  The price you'd pay if you were buying a can of beer at the liquor store, so it works out nicely.

And bonus, they're in those little squishy foil pouches.  They're bigger than a Capri Sun (10oz) but that just means they're "Adult Size."

They're supposed to be frozen and used as a slush.  But I say fuck that.  Stick them in a fridge, put them in a cooler when picnicking or camping, and enjoy them just like the old skool juice boxes.

The only problem is no hole for the straw.  Since I'm using them in an unintended way, it's no surprise.  But fear not!  A knife or a pair of scissors will take care of that problem.  From there, just grab a straw and go to town.

Yes, I'm drinking wine coolers.  But you know what?  They're Capri-motherfucking-Sun grown up wine coolers, dammit.  I think they're awesome, and I'll be packing these on my next camping getaway.

Sometimes it's fun to be a kid.  Sometimes it's fun to be an adult.  Every now and then, you get to do both, and it's awesome.
Please Share it! :)

They're only $2? Hook me up, yo! ... I.V. style, if you must.

Also? That's easily my favorite photo of the day. Hilarious.

I don't drink (weird I know) but I do STILL love a good Capri Sun now and again :) They were always my lunch beverage of choice in school.

I'm thinking I'm just gonna pour some tequila into a ziplock baggie and calling it a day.

Anything that makes it easier to get the alcohol into my system is a winner in my book.

Hahaha I would totally buy these if I was in the US. Just imagine walking into a party with a box of them. You wouldn't be the coolest kid there (even if you all are 40).

Man I love the way they packed that stuff. Especially after fucking things up the first few tries and then you get it right, that feeling is priceless (ladies don't read too much into this comment :P)

Over here there's one, it has a place for the straw and everything, different flavors, a tad more expensive but from 8-11% alcohol. It's called Gasolina and according to wiki, it's sold in Florida. Which is what, like, 20 minutes from Idaho or something. (teehee). BUT IT EXISTS AND IT HAS ALCOHOLIC CAPRI SUN GOODNESS and a place for the straw too :D

How could I have FORGOTTEN about CapriSuns?? I drank them every day (frozen) at lunch. I don't drink alcohol, but I'm glad you found yourself a kiddie treat. There's nothing I endorse more than revisiting childhood!

this sounds like a genius idea. Booze hounds in their late 20's will nostalgia HARD for those squeezable juices from their youth and buy shit loads of this stuff.

It's like Always Sunny in Philadelphia where they pour wine into coke cans...nobody needs to know you are drinking...nope, just enjoying some juice...hehehehe

haha, that's funny you made your own straw version. It is a really good idea, I drank Capri Suns all the time in school, I used to like when they were half frozen on a hot day. :)

Nice post

I've never tried one of those, but The Mrs. has brought home a few. I guess I need to pick one up the next time I stop by the gas station that sells them. Will it go straight to the head with the straw?

You know Capri Suns can actually be turned into alcohol, right? When I was a teenager, I grabbed a funny-looking pouch- it was puffed up like air had gotten into it- took a sip, and tasted beer. Not even kidding, I mean it had the carbonation to it and everything. My mother freaked out and called the company. Turns out because Capri Suns contain no preservatives, if they're exposed to air, they can be fermented. I've always wondered if there was a way to intentionally ferment them, but never cared enough to try. Plus, I'm old enough to just go to a bar now. No reason to get my alcohol in secret.
