Both are heavily censored. When Bruno Mars is talking about having a girl over and having "some really nice sex" they delete it out. When Katy Perry gets hammered and talked about streaking and threesomes, it gets censored out. You like Buckcherry? They won't play Crazy Bitch, but Lit Up is ok... Here's the song:
Sublime can Smoke Two Joints, but Lady Gaga can't take a ride on a disco stick?
Why is drug use allowed in Idaho, but sex is taboo?
In honor of that wonderful double standard, I present these fun cocaine memes for your enjoyment.

this explains SO much, Alice... |

29 witty retorts:
Lol, nice post!
Yep, that's about right.
I assume violence is totally fine too.
That cat picture kills me.
Drug talk is fine because most of them started out as medicine (Bayer, the inventors of Aspirin, also invented heroin and sold it in pharmacies. Enjoy that brain nugget.).
My favorite radio edit is when they don't play the Black Eyed Peas because they're terrible.
Totally sums up the stupidity of the world we live in.
Wow... that's just special right there.
Love that kitty image with the wide eyes. Hysterical!
Don't forget to enter my tattoo competition
these are awesome...especially the cat lol
I am cracking up! Those pictures are priceless...then again I got up to shake my ass to some Lit Up! haha. I can't help it...love Buckcherry.
Is it wrong that I have a t-shirt that I made for their concert that says "Crazy Bitch" on the front and "Fucks so Good" on the back?? Hmm...maybe I'll take a picture and post that on my blog sometime. haha. I have some pretty inappropriate t-shirts.
As for drugs being "better" than sex that is just straight up silly. There is something wrong when snorting mountains of cocaine is more acceptable than a "disco stick", "really nice sex" or threesomes. My suggestion...move...PA has no problem with drugs OR sex.
Ida-ho's obviously have strange priorities. They like drugs more than sex. Makes ya wanna go hmmmm.
One creates life, the other shortens it. Their reasoning is probably something like: Premarital sex is bad, if drugs stops you from that, do drugs!
yup you are right!
Funny stuff, I came across your page when I recently discovered Squantlo also. I'll be following this as well, good work.
Don't know if you've ever paid any attention to Todd Snider or his song "Ballad of the Kingsmen", but here's a link to the youtuber version:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yd6pgqe3fAg
the whole point of his song is how strange it is that we try to censor sex out of our music, while indulging the fascist state that does the censoring.
Hope you'll take the trip over and listen to the references to Louie Louie, Marilyn Manson, Emininem, and at the end, the Marvin Gaye "Let's Get it On" reference, for those of you old enough to remember when THAT song fucked up the Christian community.
That's not cool. :S
Would they play a song about having sex on cocaine? :D
This double standard is prevalent throughout our culture. I worry about a society which openly glorifies violence but denounces the natural reproductive cycle.
The censoring powers that be are so confused.
I love the Alice pic. It's alll coming together for me now.
what the hell is the radio
What is this "Radio" you speak of? Is it magic?
Now I am wandering around the house singing "Cocaine" (Eric Clapton, JJ Cale)

Great post :)
I'm loving these cocaine pictures. Too funny. I can say safely that in 1978 Idaho was very much a cocaine state for me! haha.
Good god there is so much cocaine! lol.
Neither of them should be taboo in my opinion. Also, way to compile every significant instance of that meme.
Not only A+ on compilation, but bonus points for adding one into the fold. I did that Golden...
I have actually heard Crazy Bitch on commercial Radio in Idaho. Yes, it was new and in Lewiston, but I have heard it nonetheless. I don't know if it is Idaho or just FCC and commercial radio.
E - I heard CB in boise. Also in slc and spokane. It may be an IF thing? It may also be because the only rock station in town is owned by Mr. Vandersloot. I know someone that works there, and says everything that makes it on his stations gets scrutinized....
I don't think it's right to have this double standard, but I think the radio should be less vulgar than it already is. When I was driving my niece to the park, almost 4 songs in a row were about sex, getting high, partying, drinking, and/or all of the above. Seriously???? And people that are commenting here are acting like it's one step below "Big Brother" when sex gets censored out. Please cut the drama. No individuals are being sequestered when you bleep out Lady Gaga's disco stick obsession. You're only bleeping out her successful albeit pathetic attempts at selling records.
I just don't want little 7 year olds singing songs about sex and/or drugs.
(Mind you, i tried changing stations, and with my sister's car, the default stations played similar songs -_-... I ended up just plugging my ipod in).
Society has weird standards and I'm not going to go into how stupid some of them are.
Maybe because that crackpot dude (you talked about in a previous post) who owns most of the town has some sexual hang up's? ...Love the photos honoring columbian tang by the way!
DAMMIT! I laughed at a cat picture. I hate cats.
They sensor "really nice sex" in the Mars song on most stations here too - sooo damn stupid.
