Sunday Silliness: Self-Reflection and Shocking Songs

I miss my dad, but I don't.

He and my mom divorced about 3 years back, and he became Mr. Grumpypants to the extreme.  But at the same time, he's my dad.  He is an out of work insulator, that probably has mesothelioma because of all the asbestos he's worked with over the years.  I haven't talked to him in over 2 years.

The last time we spoke a lot is when I was driving him to the hospital so he could have his radiation therapy done on some cancerous spots they found in his throat.  That was 2008.  Since then, he's moved in with his parents in AZ, and become a total recluse.  I speak with Grandma and Grandpa at times, but never hear about dad.  Is his cancer gone?  Does he have mesothelioma?  Did he contact those lawyers you see on TV?  Is he still an asshole?

Oh well.  I know he's not dead, because I'm his main beneficiary in his will.  I'd be informed of his death.  So that's good, at least.  I guess...

Ok, onto the lighter side of things.  I have a twitter account (@Spud_Slinger) and my blogging contest competition and I have been going back and forth with jokes and jabs.  We eventually started talking about "The shocker."

Don't knock it til you try it

Q, the MC of the blogging battle, had no idea what that was.  So I, um, popped his cherry by showing him this video.

Enjoy!

Please Share it! :)

Dude sorry to hear about you dad...I don't pretend to know all the background but regrets are awful things to carry around. I'm sure he's missing you.

As for the shocker - yep :) its certainly that lol

Synetik said...

lol great song.

"Popped my cherry?" That's the best choice of words to come up with for that video? LOL! Man, I would much rather be the proud recipient of The Stunner than The Shocker. :)

I haven't spoken to my father for a couple of years either. He's a douche.

My stepdad is who I would consider family.

i know how you feel. child of divorce here too, though my parents were never too fine

Man, I had a bit of a shady thing going on with my father, I didn't really try too hard to talk to him. Then he died. Even if he was a dick at times, I kinda feel bad for not trying to talk to him more often.

Also, song kicks ass.

I'm not sure i want the shocker. Hahaha Good luck with the contest.

Dude, they seriously have song about the Shocker? Oh my god. Hahahaha. I know where you're coming from a bit with your dad. I hope things work out. Next time you call your grandparents, ask to talk to him. Or if he's not there, ask them to have him call. If he IS sick, you don't wanna let things go by unresolved or what have you.

I went a long time without talking to my dad. I spent many many year angry at him. But I finally got tired of being angry. What it really fair to me to be mad?

Hope you two can work it out some day.

I'm with Alice-pretty sure if somebody slipped me the shocker I'd sucker punch them. I honestly don't know how we got there in that twitter conversation but I laughed about it all night last night. haha.

I'm not sure about the aim of your contest....
I liked the song. The band was pretty witty...
It takes a lot to shock me, because I'm an old jaded fuck, I suppose.....
My parents died when I was young. The last real argument I had with my father involved freaking out because I had hair like Brian Jones, it was finally perfect, right? It took months...and he thought I should get a haircut...I won..........

Terrible news man good song though.

Divorces are so common these days, it's kind of sad. My parents are still together, which is pretty good I guess, even though they argue a lot. I tend to get along with my dad.

Anyways, there is a college basketball team called the shockers. Needless to say, they are one of the more fun teams to watch compete.

Sorry to hear about your dad. To be honest, I know it's sappy, but I would try to talk to him before it's too late, you know?

@Q: Well I almost said I popped your brown cherry, but I think there were enough 'ass' jokes in the tweeting...

@D4: That's where I'm torn. He's an ass, and talking to him is like nails on a chalkboard, but at the same time I still worry about him.

What's that saying about family? You don't have to like them, but you have to love them? That's where I'm at..

@Alice & Jewels: Like I said, don't knock it til you try it.

@TC: I demand to know more. Blog about it?? Hahahaha...

My advice is to try and get along with your dad. Even if you don't have a good relationship with him, you'll regret losing him with only bad memories.
And I'm glad my tutorial worked. Looks very good on your blog

hahaha the shocker! :D

Dude, that song? Greatness and hilarity all rolled into one! My ex hubs always joked about the shocker with a juicer kicker... luckily he refrained from attempting it. Good laughs.
As for your dad situ, it sucks but family is really what you make it. The people that are involved in your life and care for you and vice versa can just as much family as those with shared bloodlines.

I actually feel like an outsider because my parents are still married and happy. More of a rarity than divorce, I think....

Sorry to hear about your dad. The sadness is normal, but at least you're handling things pretty well, from the sound of it.

Sorry about your dad. I hope he's ok. I just added you on twitter!

Posting the battle of the bands story on my blog soon (today) just because you asked. :P

I hope things get better, sometimes there are events that change us forever... Parents are no exception.

Enjoyable song!

Assholes are often parents and parents are often assholes.... The bottom line is that relationships are two way streets. Sometimes, in order to preserve our sanity, we need to redefine a relationship.

I've tried the shocker on a few girls, as long as you start with the first two fingers and add the pinky after they get going, they all get into it and I haven't had any complaints. The key is knowing you can't just shove it in there LOL

Unknown said...

@OMS: Word.

@Anthony: The trick is to start with the two, and introduce the pinky about 3/4 of the way into the process. That way, you ease into it, and it's just an additional sensation. You don't want to instantly turn her into a bowling ball. You'll get hurt.

AND DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE RING FINGER! The knuckle will be resting between both areas, and putting pressure on the 'taint' region. That's the key to the move. Sensory overload. Stimulate ALL the nerves. And then brace for imminent explosion.

I'll be here all week. Try the veal.

Hahaha, I remember the story about the highschool kids all doing that and nobody knowing till the yearbook was published
