ABORTIONS FOR ALL

Wait wait, before you unfollow me because of the crass title, hear me out.

This is kind of a tongue in cheek joke.

(But BRANDON, abortions are not a joking matter!!!)

Again, just hear me out.

We are less than 100 days from the 2012 US Elections, and I am already tired of both sides.

Look at this billboard posted on Lady E's site.  The right is trying to say that Obama want all babies aborted.

Meanwhile the left is going after Paul Ryan and his stance of 'no abortions, even for rape victims.' (I'm paraphrasing, but the essence is there...)

It reminds me of this video from the Simpsons, made in 1996 during the Dole/Clinton election (16 long years ago, and hence the peculiar title...):

(pardon the poor quality)

I don't want to hear from Romney why Obama is a piece of shit, and I don't want to hear from Obama why Romney is a piece of shit.

STOP SLINGING MUD, BOTH OF YOU.  You're acting like goddamn children on the playground.

Tell me why you're the best for the job.  Tell me what you would do with four years in office (or an additional four years in office).  Short term goals.  Long term goals.  Getting us back in track.  And with a solid plan, not just "I'll get you more jobs!  I'll put you back to work!"

Dammit Mitt.  Talk about your credentials, your history.  You shout AMERICA NEEDS A PRESIDENT WITH EXPERIENCE but you won't go into detail about your own experience (and any potential skeletons in your closet).

I think Obama did a poor job his first term.  Yes, the deck was severely stacked against him, and we are slowly turning around, but does he deserve another term?  Meh...  I don't like people that over-promise and under-deliver.  (Granted, it's harder than you think to pull the breaks on a bigrig rolling downhill...)

Conversely, is Romney the right man for the job?  I don't think he is re-electable at all, which leads me to this question for the Republican higher-ups:  Do you give Romney the reigns of the party, let him serve 4 years and give the Democrats back the office in 2016, or do you lay down this election and take 4 years to find a truly decent candidate?

Bob Dole
G W Bush
John McCain
and now Mitt Romney

Come on, conservatives...  You can do better than this.  You gotta know when to hold em, and know when to fold em.  I think Romney/Ryan is a hand you fold, and see if you get better cards the next go-round.

One of the parties (I really don't care who...).  Give me a great leader.  Give me a unifier.  Give me a Reagan.  A Clinton.  Give me a better choice than this, or else I'm going to suggest a new National Anthem:

Either/or, I'm lukewarm about how we are going to fare in the next four years.

Here in UK-land we don't tend to debate abortions and just accept it as a fact of life. Once notable exception I can remember included three or four radical christians who tried to hold an anti-abortion rally, which was met with an immediate counter demonstration. Everyone who drove past just shouted insults like "wankers" at the religious nutters. People just laughed at them until they went home.

I could not agree with you more Brandon! Enough negativity, how about you sell me on YOU, not try to turn me off from the other guy. I'm so disenchanted with politics as a whole right now...and to think I was going to be a Poli-Sci major at one point...

You know my exhausted opinion on this - I 100% agree with you and even though I'm not an American, I'm afraid for the next 4 years.

@Addman

That made me laugh. One of the great things about the UK.

Don't even get me started on the bad campaign practices of these men. Sometimes I think they'd be cleaner wrestling in the mud than they are on the campaign trails. Pretty scary to think that one of these men will be our next president. I really miss Clinton. Who gives a crap if he was getting head in the oval offices. If it gets his results, maybe more presidents should try it.

I need a reason to vote FOR someone, not against them. Obama has been uneven but I think he deserves another term. I miss the old Republican party and it's willingness to participate in government without shutting down the government if they don't get their way. The American people deserve better than they're getting in Washington. No wonder Congressional approval is down to only 10 percent.

Term limits would fix that. Both conservatives and liberals like the idea, but the congressmen don't...

Your very well-made points are exactly why I have taken matters into my own hands. You see, I am going to run for POTUS. My platform: 1. No more stupid shit. 2. Mind your fucking business. Oh, and I'm not going to campaign - so y'all are gonna have to write me in. And I'm doing away with the two party system. I'm switching it to one and I'm just going to call it "Party Time!" I blogged about it...You should write me in. Tee hee hee!

AMEN! Why oh why is it so difficult for them to just do this? Isn't that what they are supposed to be doing? I know it isn't what they do, but, you know. And I will be working on Reck's campaign.

Obama 2012. I have faith

What you fail to see is that Obama hasn't been able to keep some of his promises because of a Republican Congress that literally met on day of him winning the election on how to get him to fail. The Presidency doesn't have enough power to make any serious change on it's own, and it isn't about being a poor leader either. If Clinton were in office right now, Republicans would be blocking everything they could from him as well. The Right is further to the right than they were even just 6 years ago, and rather sabotage the economy just so they can get in power, or in the very least, drag the rest of the country further right.

I miss Clinton, but what do I know. I support gay marriage and abortion.

Abortion jokes CAN be a laughing matter, they just have to be done right. Like that Simpsons gag. (God I miss the Simpsons from yesteryear. Not the "look how stupid Homer can be" abortion that's on now. Yes, that was intentional)

Well said though. I hate these ads that make it seem like the other candidate is a villain trying to destroy our country. Like he's in his office chair, with the lights out, fingers steepled, just plotting the very downfall of our nation.

When I saw that title I knew you were referencing that Simpsons episode. Lol... classic. And you're absolutely right: politics are nothing but fear mongering and mudslinging anymore. You can't take the high ground because the slimeball below you will just drag you down to his level -- or his Super Pac/news network will manipulate everything you do/say and make you look like dog shit anyway. And if that doesn't work they'll just make something up: "The great masses of the people will more easily fall victims to a big lie than to a small one." - Adolf Hitler
(No I'm not a Nazi. I saw that in Civilization )

Your post sounds familiar...like something I wrote a few weeks ago:

Great minds think alike. Apparently evil ones do, too.

Ah yes, American politics. I raise to the bottom in mud slinging.
