Can You Manufacture a Viral Video? You Can If You're 'Jenn' Aniston

I saw this video on youtube recently and it made me chuckle a little...

Go, um, Jenn.   Get your viral on.

And the thing is, the video is getting pretty popular.  It doesn't rank up there with Chocolate Rain quite yet, but maybe with time.

Now, wikipedia defines viral videos as such:


A viral video is one that becomes popular through the process of Internet sharing, typically through video sharing websites and email.^[1] Viral videos often contain humorous content and include televised comedy sketches, such as The Lonely Island's Lazy Sunday and Dick in a Box, amateur video clips like Star Wars Kid^[2] the Numa Numa^[3][4] videos, The Evolution of Dance,^[5] Chocolate Rain^[6] on YouTube; and web-only productions such as I Got a Crush... on Obama.^[7] Some eyewitness events have also been caught on video and have "gone viral"^[8] such as the Battle at Kruger.^[9]
Humor is often a characteristic of viral videos, but not a defining one. A viral video is any video that's passed electronically, from person to person, regardless of its content.


So is Miss Aniston and Smart Water playing by the rules?

I don't think so, but does it matter?

As much as I adore her, I challenge her to a Viral vid-off.

Monday Mini-Post

My post about Weeble was a bit premature, so I'm throwing this one in as the 'official' Monday post, and just because I'm groovin to some music and feel like typing.

FINALLY!  I have found a decent radio station in this potato-laden hellhole!

It's on 92.5 on the FM Dial, and features Generation X music.

I'm 30, so I'm teetering the line between Generations X and Y.  But as far as music, culture and attitude, I'm firmly in the GenX category.

I still mostly listen to my iPod, since I have an "Un-Idahoish" musical taste (as seen in a previous blog).  However, this station is an acceptable substitute.

...and a long list of others.  The best part is the DJ's.  If there are any, they rarely (if ever) talk.  It's just music music music, and not a lot of repeats throughout the day/week.

I'm lovin it.

Interaction Time! Why do you blog about what you blog about?

So I'm following about 150-200 people on a semi regular basis.  By semi regular, it means there are a lot of you I read daily, but all of you I read at least once/twice a week.

I love the broad subject matter.

I have blogs that make me laugh on a regular basis, like Colorful Rants of a Fed Up Sista, Rose and Crayons,  and Sara's Organized Chaos.  I read these, and they always get me laughing on a regular basis.

I have a few paranormal blogs I follow, but the best of the best is Ghost Hunting Theories.  Always detailed, always insightful, and always makes you think.  Even when it keeps you up at night once in a while...

I follow a few tech blogs (like Come At Me Bro), photography blogs (like Adam Badge Photography), some brewing/bar blogs (Bar Science, for example) and some truly unique blogs that must be seen to be appreciated.  (Like this one.  Surprise, I didn't say the name!)

What I see more than any other genre, though, are music blogs and video game blogs.

Now don't get me wrong, there are a few of them that are damn good, and I interact with them on a regular basis.

But some are just cookie-cutter blogs that seem to be run by the same minds.  The 'hivemind blogs' are numerous, and just seem to frustrate me to no end.

When 4 bloggers link the same Deadmau5 vid that has been out for over a year, it grinds my gears....

When they have ALMOST THE EXACT REVIEW, word for word, I usually unfollow one or two of them in a mini-rage...

I still like the music, and I love hearing about new things coming out, or the best of the best, but I love originality too.
