#PETA vs #Mario in a Tanooki Suit (and a fun game to play)

Oh PETA, you so crazy.

If you're a Nintendo fan, you probably know about a new Mario release on the 3DS.  You probably also know Mario is famous for wearing different 'suits' in his games, including penguin costumes, 'fire spitting' suits, and a Tanooki costume.

A Tanooki costume helps mario fly, as well as bash enemies with his tail.

However, PETA (people for the ethical treatment of animals) takes offense to Mario's use of the poor Tanooki, and has created an awesome website showing their outrage.

At Mario Kills Tanooki, you see Mario as the ruthless killer he is, slaughtering poor tanookis and wearing their skins for malicious purposes.

Yet, they're fine with him stomping sentient Mushrooms (aka: Goombas) to his heart's content.  After all, mushrooms aren't animals, so it must be ok to murder THEM in cold blood, right??

To save these poor, defenseless creatures from sadistic Italian plumbers, you can go to their site and pledge to be fur free.

Or, just go there to play their video game.  It's actually kind of difficult.  Difficult like the old NES games of the 80's (Battletoads, anyone???)

In the game, you're a sad skinned Tanooki, chasing mario to claim your skin back.  If you can get past the fact you're playing a bloody fictitious animal, it's actually kind of fun.

Other fun games on PETA's site include Super Tofu Boy and Super Chick Sisters.  What I'd love to see is "Save the Lorax from Gucci Mama's Wrath."  Just saying.

So yes, PETA.  You caught my attention.  I think you guys are fucking crazy, and I'll be glad to eat KFC in front of you while saying that, but you made a entertaining website, and a damn-fun game to play.

And I'm talking about you, which is kind of what you were aiming for.  It's all about the publicity, right???

***SIDE NOTE***

I'll be on the Talk 2 Q radio show tonight!  Go HERE for more into, and to get information on tuning in!  I have no clue what we're talking about, so expect a free-for-all in randomness!

Mommy, Look at the Penguins! (guest post)

Today's post is courtesy of Quincy from Thank, Q for Common Sense.  Direct all praise/anger to him, and feel free to visit his site!  This dude is worth following.  Trust me.

First of all, thanks to Brandon for allowing me to use his page to rant.  I've had something on my mind for a minute and Idaho seemed like the perfect place to release my inner-most thoughts.  After all, I could show photos from a crime scene on this site and it won't be as bad as Brandon's amputee post...

"Mommy, look at the penguins!" is what I would imagine hearing from a child who is visiting the United States for the first time.  This imaginary child, from a foreign land, would not be referring to the frigid birds of the tundra, but instead... idiots and their sagging pants.

My mom and / or dad would have stapled my pants up to my nipples before they let me walk around sagging like a convict.  Yes, I said convict.  After all, that's where the trend allegedly got its start.

Prisoners were forbidden to wear belts in jail because some of them would use the belt to hang themselves.  As a result of being beltless, the pants they wore tended to sag.  This made it more difficult to commit suicide and it also made it more difficult to run when trying to escape custody.  It was also stated that the men wearing their pants "extra low" were some other prisoner's "bitch."  Some how in the 90's, this prison trend crept its way into hip hop culture and has now infected our kids.  I'm guessing because they're too stupid to research the origin of things.

Now, let me state this first: I have no problem with kids having trends.  I participated in some trends as a youth and I understand how cool it looks when you're young.  That's why you have to be a certain age to drink because youngsters are naturally stupid and can't tell "cool" from "fool" very easily.  What I don't understand is how something so flat-out laughable has become cool.  People used to moon other people as a joke, but now it's a fashion trend to see someone's butt.  No longer do you have to go to a strip club or call a plumber in order to see a butt crack.

Now Hanes sightings are a dime a dozen and the only sad thing about guys doing it is that women are liking it.  Any ladies care to explain to me how  a man who has to reach behind his knees for a wallet is "sexy?"  What is so appealing about a guy who has to drive with both feet because his pants are rolled up around his ankles?

Can anyone explain to me how pulling up your pants every three steps and walking like a penguin is cool?

If you were a prisoner, wouldn't this be more of an invitation that a fashion statement?

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night

I'd like to share with you one of my favorite poems, by Dylan Thomas:

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on that sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

While taken slightly out of context, I would like to say to you that I did not go gently into that good night.  I raged, and somehow was able to muster over 300 votes and win...

The Stunner.

Yes, with your help I was able to become the champion of Thank, Q For Common Sense's blogging tournament, beating other bloggers like EmDottie, Thoughts of a Randomista, Squatlo Rant, and ultimately Michelle at Mommy Confessions.

It was a long battle, especially against Miss Mommy.  She may only have 400 or so people following her with a google profile, but she has thousands of followers within her ranks, from Facebook Twitter and the like.  She was the true #1 seed, and I had to pester a lot of friends, family, coworkers, and followers into voting.

For some reason, even though I have over 450 followers, I only seem to have about 30-50 'regulars.'  It was that other 400 or so that I had to bother, and bother I did.

Happily it paid off, but not without a lot of effort on my part.  The good news is, during the course of the tournament, a lot of the bloggers (Mommy, Q and I included) grew their numbers.  Even though I am the only one who walked away with the official Stunner, we all walked away reaping the rewards of this tournament.

If you have not been to Q's site, I recommend you do ASAP.  Not only to witness the chaos and the carnage first-hand, but because there were some damn-good blogs fighting in this tourney.  Not only that, but Quincy is a damn good blogger himself.  If anything, you can go there and find a good handful of other bloggers worth following and stalking.

But for now I go to sleep, and rest I will.  I'm going to take a decent break from marketing my blog, since I have been pushing it so frantically lately.  But don't worry, avid readers... I'll still be bitching and posting daily.

Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
