I'm nominated for two Boomerang awards over at Studio 30 Plus! Click the picture above to be taken to the voting area, and show some bloggers some lovin.
I personally am in the Humor category, as well as the best 2011 Newcomer. Not only go and vote for some great blogs, go to get a list of 30 or so award-worthy blogs to see if any look good enough to follow.
I perused the list myself, and added about 12-15 new blogs to my 'stalk' list. There are some real gems in there, peoples...
And there were a few that, no surprise, just didn't interest me. I usually stay away from the canned mommy/daddy bloggers, because learning about new hair-brushing techniques or hearing about the zen of potty training just doesn't interest me. There are a few that are more humorists than anything, and those mommy/daddy bloggers are worth following.
Sorry, if you're on a pedestal, preaching to me why breastfeeding is blah blah blah, I'm gonna get bored quickly. I'm just not your demographic.
Reading about 30 new blogs also affirmed why I blog how I blog. I usually try to keep things at 500 words or less, and have 1-3 pictures involved. On the internet our attention spans are short, and I'm only asking for 1-3 minutes of your time. I'm here to entertain, and then let you get on with your day.
Other bloggers who type 1-2,000 words per post, and use a minimum amount of visual aids are asking me to yawn. Don't get me wrong, a lot of times the content is really really good, but if I wanted to read a book I'd go to the library or pick up my Kindle.
The fact I was nominated for two awards means I'm doing something right. So I'll keep on going, and keep my posts short and sweet. I'll try not to get on my high horse too often, but be assured when I do, I'll make sure things are entertaining.
Thanks as always for your support. I love to write, but my followers and the comments I receive motivate me to write more and more. You keep doing what you're doing, and I'll keep doing what I'm doing.
Cheers. Here's to eyeballing the "Best Blogger" award in 2012.
