One thing that makes me laugh are when commercials contradict themselves.
The subject of this week's contradiction? Wendy's.
Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy's, used to be featured in most commercials. When Dave died in 2002, Wendy's started looking for other ways to spread the message.
Recently, however, the original Wendy (Dave's daughter) has started being featured on TV:
"Yes, I'm that Wendy" she says, and then talks about quality and care and...
...well, all the things you care about when you're ordering a Frosty at 2am, drunk off your ass...
At the same time, "Cool Wendy" started taking the spotlight in other Wendy's commercials.
Yes boys, the carpet does match the curtains... |
Which one is the real Wendy?
Do they have a 'we care' Wendy, and then a 'let's party, I'm gonna take my top off' Wendy?
And, if so, who the fuck is THIS guy??
Hey, me too! They call me Tyrone "Fire-crotch" Jones... |
17 witty retorts:
Things have never been the same since the "Where's the beef" days of old with cutie patootie Clara doing those Wendy's ads.
Wow, that is confusing! Maybe neither of them are the real Wendy...or maybe it's like Santa and Wendy has lots of "helpers" because she can't be everywhere at once??
Don't make fun of us redheads. Well, kick yer arse!
Looks like the original Wendy has been enjoying a little too much of her food...
I prefer "take off my top Wendy" to be honest with you. "Real" Wendy does look like she could advertise hamburgers though.
I wonder if Christina Hendricks could be the Wendy's girl? I'd buy plenty of hamburgers if she were on the ads.
Oh, the 3rd Wendy? He's actually a Pippi Longstocking impostor.

I'm not 100% convinced... if you look at the cartoon Wendy in the logo, the resemblance is uncanny.
And Pippi?? Wow, that takes me back... :D
Guess they had to get a cuter, skinnier Wendy like girl to take the real Wendy's place. Advertising always looks for eye candy ya know.
All I know is now I'm craving a cup of chili and a baked potato with sour cream and chives.
Aubrey oday isn't one of them? Then why is she scaring with Michelle Bachmann eyes and Wendy hair and fast food boobs and body? Got to learn more abt redheads.
One of the requirements for working at Wendy's is that you have to become a Wendy. And as soon as you walk into a Wendy's, you become a Wendy, too.
I just don't know....
Great minds DO think alike! I'm glad I didn't read yours first or I would have felt weird about publishing my version! I need to subscribe here so I don't step on toes again... :)
Oh, step away! Great minds think alike, and I love the different perspective...
I think they use the "cool" Wendy because she is skinny. The real Wendy is overweight, so if she is the face of Wendy's people are going to associate eating at Wendy's with getting obese.
...which sounds more realistic, doesn't it? If you have fast food more than 4 times a week, odds are you're a little heavy-set, correct?
Who IS the new Wendy? I don't recognize her at all. Besides that, the old Wendy probably realizes that her weight might be an issue in advertising...corporate office might want to project a healthy image....not one that will make you fat.
