Ok bitches, enough drama for the week. Back to the game.
I've done a lot of bashing lately, and I think it's time to tell you at least ONE good thing that Idaho has that you don't find in California.
French Fry Sauce.
Yes, it looks disgusting. It's pinkish, runny, and essentially mayo and ketchup (catsup? ketchup? catsup? ...Bueller??) combined, but it is so much more.
If someone offers to make you Frysauce by combining ketchup and mayo, kick him in the nuts. Or, if it's a girl, kick her in the taco. FRYSAUCE IS MUCH MUCH MORE! At least the good stuff is.
If you take all the ingredients used to make ketchup, all the ingredients for mayo, add some spices, and work a little magic, you get an orgasmic condiment that is good on everything. It's like Thousand Island dressing on a hamburger, without all those nasty pickle nubbins in it.
There are some brands of fry sauce you can buy at the grocery store...
...but honestly they suck donkey balls. To get the GOOD stuff you need to hit up a fast food joint. I'm talking Sonic (yeah, that Sonic), Arctic Circle, or one of the smaller-chain places or independent burger joints.
BY FAR the best place to go for frysauce is....
The Iceberg. Why?
1 - Their frysauce is the best. I think they put a little tobasco in it, to give it a kick.
2 - Their burgers are fan-fucking-tastic. And as you can see in the picture, their onion rings are massive. They give me more 'size-issues' than watching porn, especially when I try to put one of them in my mouth... OMG it's so big!! And salty!
3 - Look at those fucking milkshakes. LOOK AT THEM. Kelis ain't got nothing on that... Their milkshake menu is MASSIVE. Ever have a black licorice milkshake? Pumpkin pie? Grasshopper (the cookie, not the insect)?
I like frysauce at home, but like I said, the best sauce is from the fast food places. So what's a guy to do? Collect the condiment packets. I hit the drive thru, ask for a bunch. If I get 6, I use 2 or 3 and save the rest.
It's like my crack. Best of all, I get to keep my teeth!!
So there you go. Short post today, but I think it's a sweet one. Happy Friday!
Oh yeah, today's the last day for the photo fun. Email me with your submissions! lostinidaho@ymail.com
Can we still be lovers if I tell you that I moved to California a year ago and I HATE it here? Like, with the burning, fiery passion of ten thousand suns?
ReplyDeleteI make fry sauce with tomato sauce and mayo. Never knew it was actually a sauce though, I thought I was a freakin genius when I discovered it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think fast food places in Australia have fry sauce ;___;
OH SHIT THE FRY SAUCE!!!! We have some kick ass fry sauce here in houston. To this day I have no fucking clue what it is made out of. It just tastes like heaven...but could be made out of malt liquor and mudd butt for all I care lol
ReplyDeleteThat last picture looks so delicious, but I'm too lazy to left the house and get a burger at midnight.
ReplyDelete@GM: that all depends on where you moved from, and what part of Cali you're in. Some parts are so hellish I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemies. But compared to Idaho, its bliss to me.
ReplyDeleteThat icecream looks pretty good. I'll have to head out west sometime.
ReplyDeleteactually looks good, but i am hooked on my in-n-out burger fries with ketchup and pepper over here in california... nomnom :)
ReplyDeletebut dude, it's too late to make me hungry. I'm supposed to sleep and not be hungry at this hour. ):
ReplyDeleteSounds good, unfortunately I have a tomato allergy. I do like mayo on my fries though, perhaps there is a non-ketchup fry sauce out there?
ReplyDeleteI WANT
ReplyDeletewell... I have that exact same Fry Sauce and I live in Nevada. I could export it and make bank.
ReplyDeleteDamn, going to order a pizza right now. In the mood after reading this, I think the milkshake pushed me over the edge haha.
ReplyDeleteMmm that looks delish. followed!
ReplyDeletealphabetalife.blogspot.com
I wish there was 'Diner Culture' in the UK.
ReplyDeletefrench sauce interesting my son has his own secret sauce he makes Ranch drssing mixed with Barbeques sauce
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever heard of "fry sauce" - as many places as I've lived, never came across it. But I'm down with the splash of tabasco to kick it up a notch - sounds brilliant! Yo - you should find a way to sell it from your bloggie - for all of us poor bastards who aren't "enlightened" yet!!
ReplyDeleteThat milkshake brings all the boys to the yard, and girls too I'm sure. I want fries for breakfast now... thanks an F'ing lot!
ReplyDeleteI have been dunking my fries in ranch, but that fry sauce looks yummy! I am going to have to get my some...
ReplyDeleteOkay, I admit that where I grew up, they ate so much brit-inspired food that we had malt vinegar on every table. I always had my fries with malt vinegar and ketchup, but now you have me intrigued. I recently have been on a buffalo sauce and bleu cheese on everything kick. Now, I gotta see if I can order some of that sauce online. I bet I can! I think it would be good on a lot of things. I could see even spreading it on the bread before putting down slices of cheese for grilled cheese. yummers.
ReplyDeletethose ice cream shakes look like the friggin shit!
ReplyDeleteYuck if you order it online don't buy the Some Dude's brand. That stuff is seriously nasty. They added in a whole bunch of stuff & it's not the same at all. From what I remember working at Iceberg, there's no Tabasco. Mayo & ketchup & honey & maybe a couple other things.
ReplyDeletethose look so good!
ReplyDeleteIt makes me want to go to a place like In & Out Burger...none here in the midwest. UUUGH...want foooood.
ReplyDeleteas european guy i always eat my fries with mayo and ketchup :3
ReplyDeleteSo hungry now. Those shakes, which are like my favorite dessert in the world, look so super good. At least I know where to go if I ever randomly end up in Idaho.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap that looks delicious...
ReplyDeletethat sauce sounds awesome....makes me want to go get some great drive through food...but all we really have is McD's and BK
ReplyDeleteDamn you. Now I want ice cream.
ReplyDeleteI love milkshakes! Too bad there isn't a Iceberg where I live. Is it an American joint?
ReplyDeletemayo and ketchup is the ****!!!
ReplyDeleteThe best one is the 'spread' at In N Out! Nothing tops it!
ReplyDeleteYum! You are making me hungry.
ReplyDeleteWe call that Tomayo over here in the east.. 'Special sauce' is the more common term however.
ReplyDeleteThose milkshakes DO look amazing to be honest. :D
Can I order it online? *trollface*
ReplyDeleteI love making fry sauce with mayo, Asian spicy garlic sauce (essential very hot ketchup with a touch of garlic), and a dash of lime. Best fry sauce ever.
ReplyDeleteI see a connection here between orgasmic condiment and Some Dude's Frysauce. I'm speculating that some dude is deliberately spooging into the Some Dude's Frysauce's big round pot in the factory. Do they have security cameras at that place? No tellin' what monkeyshines the night crew are up to. They're probably all just wanking away, filling up the big ol' saucepot til their nuts are shrunk up like withered raisins.
ReplyDeleteHilarious post, man. I'm honestly envious of the Iceberg restaurant you have there. As long as the Cockroach Milkshake isn't on their menu, I'm there, dude. We have to do some heavy traveling to find a good place to eat in these parts. You are LUCKY, in that respect. Have a dandy day/night!
Damn you, that burguer with pink mayo and french fries looks so good, just ate something and i want a burguer now...
ReplyDeleteAll of this food is making me hungry! Lol thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletethe first time had this stuff was in utah. it was in the local McDonalds. fell in love with it. now i make it myself whenever i go someplace. mayo and ketchup. all you need.
ReplyDeleteTry this: Mayo, Ketchup, a little seasoning salt and a dah of either tobasco sauce or tapatillo. THAT is true fry sauce!
ReplyDeleteI should try something other than ketchup all the time.
ReplyDeleteMan that looks delicious. I've never seen it in Australia though, might just have to come for a trip!
ReplyDeleteI really want a milkshake now, those look amazing
ReplyDeleteIt always seems to look better on posters compared to when you actually buy it.
ReplyDeleteAmericans sure do shit big :O
ReplyDeleteDeep down, it's where I belong.
Whenever I see a Sonic commercial, I get insanely jealous.
ReplyDeleteFrom my POV, you can't go wrong with Thousand Island dressing on a burger. Done.
