So the money I've been saving up for the trip is gone.
I just called my bank, and they've wiped everything out. Even though I'm already getting my wages garnished at work, they took everything out of my bank.
The stickler is, I share this account with my girlfriend. Last I checked, her wages can't be touched because of my support, but if it's a mutually shared bank account, they can take it all.
I guess I won't be visiting my boys after all. Shit.

ReplyDeleteBank told me that Child Support put a levee on my bank account, and they took all my money.
ReplyDeleteThe papers they sent into my work, so they could garnish my wages, said they can take 50% of my income or $1000 a month, whatever is less. They took half my paycheck, and I deposited the rest yesterday.
Today, they took the rest of my paycheck, plus my girlfriend's paycheck as well. Her an I have a joint account. She's not responsible for my support payments, but they wiped her clean as well.
And I can't call to complain until Monday. So I'm ill, and stuck like this all weekend.

I know just how it feels to be skipping along, plans in mind, even meek ones, and BAM!! goddamn money has been swiped from you with no warning. Plans all shot to shit. I feel for you. I really do. ReplyDeleteThat SUCKS! I'm not surprised, though.... I would not marry a prior bf because his ex-wife would have taken us to court for more child support. If we would have married, we would have been considered double income. Anyway, you and your gf need to get separate bank accounts.... The banks and child support systems can't tell from a joint account what is your $ and what is hers. They just see $$$$. Don't get me started on how the non-custodial parent gets screwed....
