FINALLY! I have found a decent radio station in this potato-laden hellhole!
It's on 92.5 on the FM Dial, and features Generation X music.
I'm 30, so I'm teetering the line between Generations X and Y. But as far as music, culture and attitude, I'm firmly in the GenX category.
I still mostly listen to my iPod, since I have an "Un-Idahoish" musical taste (as seen in a previous blog). However, this station is an acceptable substitute.
It features some awesome songs by:
The Offspring
"Welcome to Intermission...... AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH...." |
Fatboy Slim
One does not simply WALKEN into Mordor... |
Linkin Park
Hide yo kids.... Hide yo wife.... |
...and a long list of others. The best part is the DJ's. If there are any, they rarely (if ever) talk. It's just music music music, and not a lot of repeats throughout the day/week.
I'm lovin it.
So, it leads me to the question: What music do you rock out to? What's your style? I'd love to hear from you.
EDIT: Completely unrelated, but I just saw this vid on my facebook and it DEMANDED to be shared. Here you go!
That's cool, it's so hard to find a good radio station anywhere these days.
ReplyDeletedude I love the offspring, my favorite song is Dirty Magic. They are nothing compared to Red Hot Chili Peppers tho'.
ReplyDeleteOk, the Walken pic immediately forced me to go watch 'Weapon of Choice' on youtube!
ReplyDeleteI listen to everything from 70's punk to Swing to Beethoven, mostly punk though.
Great job at finding a radio station. I gave up on the radio a long time ago. You would think DC would have something decent, but their 'rock' station is a bunch of BS. I have a pretty broad range of music, I like some offspring, and then some older stuff like led zeppelin and pink floyd, and metal, like alestorm and 3 inches of blood.
ReplyDeleteGlad you found something to listen to. Going without music to enjoy is hell. I washed my iPod, so I'm dealing with that for a while. I listen to the rock stations around here mostly, because it's got more feeling to it, but I'll listen to just about anything, depending on the song.
ReplyDeleteHaha Fatboy Slim, that guy was in The Housemartins! I used to listen to The Offspring when I was 9-10 years old. Haven't heard them in a real long time.
ReplyDeleteHaven't found any good radio station here, it's just the same over and over again...
ReplyDeleteI lol hard at the last pic.
ReplyDeleteGreat music selection. I'm almost 30, myself, so I can definitely say that the 90's was a great time for music.
ReplyDeleteIf I'm in a rockin' out sort of mood, I tend to go for 80's rock, like AC/DC, Boston and Rush. I like other stuff, too, but it depends on my mood.
ReplyDeleteI still listen to The Offspring sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI saw them in concert a while back.
Oh hell no you DIDN'T put Antoine in Linkin Park!! That is M-Fing HILARIOUS!! I'm a total Gen Xer...The Offspring bring back such fond memories of college for me (well, the ones I can remember - some are a little "hazy." LOL). Glad you found some fresh tunes to listen to. I still can't believe you put Antoine in Linkin Park. [still giggling]
ReplyDeleteWhat don't I listen to... Also, as far as the llama goes, I speak spanish and that was ridiculously funny for some reason
ReplyDeleteok so i love anything by "Adele".. she's beautiful and british with a lovely voice :)
ReplyDeletei listen to songs by 21st century aristes,lol.. the nicki minaj's, drake's, kanye's, rihanna's and jay z's of this world turn me on :p
@Reck: *I* didn't put Antoine in that picture, but that's what partially inspired this post.
ReplyDeleteI'm driving home, listening to LP on this radio station, and the thought dawned on me. My initial thought was "This HAS to be done somewhere already. If not, I'll do it. It's too priceless to pass up." A quick google search later, and there he is....
i love the offsprings greatest hits album! really great music back then
ReplyDeleteA rapist in Linken Park? Wat...?
ReplyDeleteI'm missing something in that picture lol
Hide ya kids, hide ya wife! lmfao I can't stand that little fruit fly! lmfao
ReplyDeleteThe offspring is awesome
ReplyDeleteHell yeah on fat boy slim, Christop´her walken FTW!!!
ReplyDeletei'm a mosh pot of music i like bits of everything
ReplyDeleteHahaha those album covers are awesome
ReplyDeleteI've never been a huge music guy. My girl thinks its weird. My friends think its weird. But music never had that effect on me. I listen to music, i just dont really love anything specific. If its on, sounds good, I'll listen. Rock, country, rap, jazz, etc. Dead Kennedys, Incubus, Linkin Park, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Nas are the only artists I own multiple albums by. My ipod is stuffed, punk rock/rock/country/rap mostly. In the car, I listen to sports talk, being in Boston, sports dominates the landscape. And the radio sucks. Too money driven, nothing good ever makes it on these days.
ReplyDeleteWhen I really wanna rock out, I listen to metal. I enjoy other types of music also such as classic rock, trance, and instrumental/progressive.
ReplyDeletethe fatboy slim vid "weapon of choice" with walken is awesome
ReplyDeleteLost. After several frustrating hours trying to fix my comments section,I just made it over here for a peek. As a Gen ZZZZZZZ'er, I was raised on Elvis and Beatles and trained classical.
ReplyDeleteCombine that with my ADHD and you can plug me into anything.
Weebs the cat is cute and I must ask about your best lady. I was told by a buddy who played ball up to B. State that the only attractive women in the state were from out of state. If true, from where did you import companionship?
If false, does she have a sister? I have a buddy thinking about moving up there but is uneasy about the entire Mormon dealie.
@Mooner: With every exception there is a rule. My beauty was born and raised in Idaho, as a good religious girl. The type that didn't have sex until marriage (shocker THAT didn't work out...) after years of corrupting her, she became mine.
ReplyDeleteI've looked around, and I'd say 0.5% of the women up here could be called an 8 or above. I truly found a diamond in the rough...
If your bud is coming here prospecting for pretty ladies... tell him to keep on drivin...
i feel like seeing that music video of fat boy slim with walken!!
ReplyDeleteLolocaust at the Linkin Park photo. :) That's what I always pictured when I saw that vid!
ReplyDeleteAs for what I rock out to:
The Beatles
The Cat Empire
and System of a Down.
Top 3 right there. :) Check out The Cat Empire if you haven't heard them before. They are the most chill and fun band EVER!
I know what you mean by sucky radio stations, dude. All we have around here, that features my type of music (rock, metal, alternative) is WEBN- So I can relate. I love The Offspring, dude. Got all their CDs. The Monty Python sketches were hilarious.
ReplyDeleteThe Linkin Park picture I've seen before, and I still died with laughter.
ReplyDeleteAs we speak Tool is on. I LOVE TOOL. That is all.
hed hed above water
