So, I have a few extra pounds on me. Not a lot, but I'm not exactly trim.
I like to tell people I'm not fat, I'm just a food connoisseur.
With that said, I've been around. I have had a lot of different types of Mexican food. From major chain restaurants to holes in the wall, to the actual stuff in Mexico.
But never have I tasted anything that compared to the Mexican food I have found in Idaho.
Yes, the best mexican food I have ever had is from Idaho.
Where, you may ask?
There is a taco truck that parks in front of a redneck bowling alley. You can get stuffed for less than $5 here, and it is BY FAR the best I have ever had.
Being a California boy, I have had Chipotle. I loooove me some Chipotle, but this is better. Believe it.
Plus, you get a TON of food for super cheap. I buy this burrito for only $3, and it is big.
How big?
Big big.
As I said, I'm a big dude, so I can put down food when I need to, but I can't finish this burrito in one sitting. It almost always turns into two meals for me.
The best part? It doesn't have the 'Taco Bell' effect. If you don't know what that is, this web comic sums it up nicely.
So, if you're ever in Idaho Falls, check out this taco truck. It's an absolute gem, and worth the wait.
Haha I like taco trucks!
ReplyDeleteI have found that roadside food vendors often make the tastiest (and unhealthiest) foods.
ReplyDeleteAlso, lol at the 'Taco Bell' effect.
Holy Shit that's a huge burrito! We have Taco Trucks all over my small town, but I don't trust em. Being in AZ it's a little harder to trust things from across the border. Also they park by an abandoned building that smells vaguely of dead bodies...
ReplyDeleteAnyways! Sounds like a sweet deal. Especially since it doesn't do what Taco Bell does!
Next time I'm in Idaho Falls, I'll check it out! ^^
ReplyDeleteYes, but is it worth the "weight"? Hee hee. I went to chipotle once with my kid. The portions are e-normous! I admit to loving all foods, but I've never been a big fan of Mexican. It's like Jim Gaffigan said in his standup--same 5 ingredients! Now, if a super awesome cupcake place opens up there, I might make the haul up to your state, buddy! Good luck on the downsizing. I can relate. As a female, the job never ends because we never feel we get "there" (wherever there is).
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty crazy dude. The Taco Bell effect sounds...interesting? to say the least lol
ReplyDeleteThere is no way I'm going all the way to Idaho for Mexican! :)
ReplyDeleteHaha If I ever get to Idaho Falls, I will check out your recommendations. :)
ReplyDeleteOoow now im hungry. Here we hardly have mexican food, We don't even have a taco bell. But that sound delicious! With that i don't mean what...hapens after tacobell.
ReplyDeleteI could never understand why "healthy" food is so damn expensive and "junk" is so cheap! I think it's a conspiracy! I'm still trying to lose a few more pounds too and it's so tempting to just give up and just be a lard ass so I can enjoy the good stuff ;)
ReplyDeleteI never get the taco bell effect personally, not sure why
ReplyDeleteI have never eaten from a taco truck, but I would love to try it. Too bad I won't get your specific one. They're also fun to drive behind of on the freeway.
ReplyDeleteMexican food whatz more catchy about it?
ReplyDeleteI call it tasteless version of Indian food.
Rice - bulky and hard version of indian rice
Tacos - hard version of roti
fajitas- tasteless version of subji
doritos - flour chips??
I've found that food coming from trucks and stands like that is always fantastic.
ReplyDeletehaha the best mexican food from idaho? I don't know if i can believe that!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if i'll ever get to Idaho, but if i will, i'll check it out
ReplyDeleteI wish Taco Bell would grace the UK with its presence :(
ReplyDeleteNo way man!! I've had mexican food everywhere also from all over the US, Canada, France and Australia and no where compares to So-Cal
ReplyDeleteI don't think the mexican food in Idaho is better than the Mexican food here in southern California! Our taco trucks are by far the best! Al pastor, birria, pollo asado - it's all delicious here!
ReplyDeleteFlex & Eric, I've tried a lot of places in SoCal. San Diego, Los Angeles, Riverside, etc. There's a good place in Huntington Beach, a taco truck (total roach coach) but the Idaho one trumps it all. To me, at least.
ReplyDeleteYeah I hear there are a lot of taco trucks in socal that are really good.. I'm surprised to hear one in Idaho takes the cake.
ReplyDeleteI was in New Mexico once and they had a little burrito stand, same deal, 3 bucks for a burrito, but it was like 1 and 1/2 pounds man. Thing was a beauty.
im having that taco bell effect this very moment. ugh. wish i didnt get it.
ReplyDeleteI've never eaten at one of those before.
ReplyDeleteand now im hungry
ReplyDeleteDelicious food for cheap, that-s my favorite combination.
ReplyDeleteMexican food in Idaho? I would have never expected.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think I'd have to try this taco truck!
taco trucks are almost never terrible, keep on eating that greasy nasty mexican food that we all enjoy oh so much
ReplyDeleteZOE! NAO! Find one. Eat there. Foodgasm.
ReplyDeletei want tacos now dude...
ReplyDeleteMexican food isn't that big where I'm from, but I'm curious now..
ReplyDeleteRight now my diet consists of only Rice, vege, and coffee, no protein at all, I should get some D:
ReplyDeleteyou've inspired me to cook some mexican food tonight nom nom nom nom
ReplyDeletearrr no mexican food here where i live, damn it
ReplyDeleteNow I'm hungry. Thanks man...
