Idaho's Finest - Signage Showing Stupidity

If you have been following this blog for a while, you've probably seen multiple posts about signs and banners in my town that make me cringe.

Spelling and/or grammar mistakes galore.  It's an editor's nightmare, but makes writing daily posts for this blog simple.

Oh, and if you're newish, don't worry.  I'll be doing a 'best of the worst' post in the days to come.

The most recent addition is the Kia dealership in town. In front of their lot reads a sign that says "Idaho's TRUCK HeadQuarter's."

I'm not joking.

...in fact, I didn't even know Kia had trucks...

I've rolled past this sign many-a-time without really glancing at it, but one day it just screamed at me.  At first, I only noticed the capital Q.  Then, upon further inspection, my stomach began to turn.

Thank you, Stone's Kia of Idaho Falls.  You make my job as a blogger easy, and you give me one more reason why I'll never buy a Kia.

  1. I used to knock Kia. Not anymore. I was driving some compact car of theirs in a blizzard and didn't get stuck or slip once while everyone else was. Then again, that could be my superb driving skills.

Wrong signs just make me laugh. I suppose it works though in a negative way. It's still publicity.

  2. You would think there would be just one person there that would have noticed...

  3. So HeadQuarter's is possessive? Of what, I wonder.

  4. Hey! Careful with all the comments. I'm the one they hired to make that sign. Just read my blog for proof lol... I don't know how to punctuate or spell. Sad but true.

  5. So is this Quarters from Heads or a quarter of a Head (obviously not the brain part)? Heehee. Love it.

The only thing that could make this better would be if it was on a random parking lot instead of a dealership.

  6. Having lived in various parts of the country, I can assure you that cringe worthy public grammar gaffes run rampant nationwide, but only in our beloved Idaho would they carve it in stone! Okay, they would carve it in stone in Montana too.

  7. What's with people and apostrophes? Why is it so difficult to understand their use?

I think this is a reflection of the sad state of our education system. People be dumb, yo.

  8. Illegal immigration man, illegal immigration, just like they massacred our jobs they are torturing our English man. British blamed us for "z" and color, odor. But this is outrageous. Kia's baddest.

  9. Idaho Falls is over 94% Caucasian. I don't think this is because of illegal immigrants who can't spell. I think this was done by rednecks.

What's funny is this was designed (poorly) by someone. Proofed (in theory) by someone else, then taken to the printing company who carved the stone. AND NOBODY CAUGHT THE MISTAKES!!

  10. I like it when people who can't type coherent sentences blame grammar issues on illegal immigrants. I think it's cute.

  11. lmao... In Kia's defence it is one of the few vehicles actually built in america :) I'm pretty sure Kia has no truck either... Hrm. Guess they're retardo! :) lmao!! (and don't pick on me for my spelling, tee hee)

  12. @Brandon and D4-
I tried a joke. Poor me.Rednecks are worse than immigrants in English, aren't they?
If an Indian "we are like this only " expressed his/her opinion about grammar , it can only be taken as a joke rite?

  13. Sorry, it's hard to convey sarcasm over the internet. Maybe try {sarcasm} tags next time? {/sarcasm}

  15. Yet another indication of worldwide apostrophe abuse! When will it ever end??

  16. I know this is something taught in schools. I myself have taught it in schools. It's a phenomenon that has me completely stumped. I can sort of understand run-on sentences and sentence fragments. That's a lack of something that should be there. But adding an apostrophe is MORE; it's extra work done by an idiot. When in doubt, just leave it out!

  17. Is it just me or does that sign look alarmingly like a tomb stone???? I'd totally boycott shopping there because of the grammar...but using a tomb stone to market your wares??? CREEPY. Double dawg boycott.

  18. UGH! Are the words engraved into the stone? That is simply appalling! XP

  19. This kind of shit makes me crazy. There is a dry cleaning place near where my ex lives that I drive by every time I go to drop off my kids. They have an ad that says they will hem your "pant's" on a huge sign out by the street. I literally can't even bring myself to look at it.

  20. Thats like putting a sign out in front of mcdonalds that says "Pizza Kings"
