Valentine's Idea - My Love Book

This is a '1 of 2' post.  The first post will talk about the planning/ordering, and the 2nd will be the arrival/result.

I have never been big on Valentine's Day gifts, but when I do they're usually a little outside the box.  I'm not one for flowers, chocolates, or reservations at a fancy restaurant.  I prefer gifts that last a little longer than just the day.

I was given the chance to sample and review a custom love book from Mylovebook.com.  With your input, they create a customized book with your words and memories.  You can enter between 18 and 36 things (from blank pages to prompted questions/scenarios) and they'll edit/print your book to your specs.

I have to admit, it was harder to do these 'on the spot' as I thought it would be.  Prompts like "You make me happiest when ________" or an entire section of "If you were an A, you'd be B" made me think.  A lot.

But after probably 60-90 minutes of thinking, writing, and picking what I wanted, my book's content was finished.

The user interface is extremely easy to understand, and after you complete each page it saves the info for you.  This means if you need to come back later, you can.

As mentioned, you can pick between 18 and 36 prompts.  The book (I'm assuming) comes 36 pages long, and each page you do not fill will have that swirly heart design you see on the left.

If you click to enlarge the picture, you can see one of the example pages listed on the sample book section of the site.

Once finished, you pick the cover of the book you prefer, the font styling, and the shipping info.  From there you pay ($49.95 + Shipping) and have the option of having one of their pros edit the book before printing.  At about $50-70 (depending on shipping costs/urgency), it costs as much as a decent bouquet of flowers, yet lasts much much longer.

You can also do a 'see preview' option where you can see a proof of your book before it goes to print, and write notes to the printers to consider before printing.  I asked for a few pages to be rearranged (to help with flow) and to change some spacing inconsistencies.  I can't wait to see the finished result.

Within 24 hours of submission, by book was edited, proofed, approved by me, printed and shipped.  I was stunned.

I'm very excited about receiving this book.  On V-Day, I'll be blogging about the actual look of the book as well as the reaction from my better half.  Stay tuned, but if you like what you see already, go to MyLoveBook and pre-build yours today!  It's free to try, and you can order as late as February 13th for a V-Day delivery!

*Note:  This is a sponsored review, and I am receiving free product in return for a review.  Positive or negative, my opinions are my own, and I was commissioned for a review, not a GOOD review*

  10. That's a very cool idea. However, as a guy who has way too much fun with mad libs, my wife would end up getting something like, "You make me happiest when eggnog. If you were a taco, you'd be fart."
