The crazy thing is, that cat looks JUST like my cat. Seriously. It's creepy.
And what shelter fucking gasses pets to death? Haven't they heard of Beuthanasia - the pink juice? Works every time. The pet simply falls asleep. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this whole pet gas chamber issue.
Had a Labrador that got run over (twice) had to have a pin placed in her leg after the first incident. Second incident reminded us that she still had the eight inch metal pin in her leg because it came through the skin when the second car ran over her two years later... Oops... Survived both "wrecks" just fine. Finally got electrocuted when she swam to get a stick I'd toss into the river and got too close to a loose wire on an underwater pump run by the U.S. Geological Survey. I was almost fried trying to retrieve my dog... wrote a Squatlo Story about it a while back. Here's a link if you're interested in the sad water tale, and one of the most embarrassing public meltdowns of my life: http://squatlo-rant.blogspot.com/2010/06/squatlo-story-number-eleven-sir-this-is.html By the way, I heard it was "nine" lives. (there, D4)
It's so sad that they only give the animals 30 days to be adopted. I understand the cost of maintaining that many animals for long periods of time, but I'm definitely glad my local shelter is no kill.

ReplyDeleteSers. Also, the cat got hypothermia, was sealed in a plastic bag in a cooler, and a stray.
Wonder how many lives it has left.
This is honestly one of the coolest animal stories I've read this year. What a great 3 days! XD
