Idaho Goes Bonkers for Chick-Fil-A

If you have never been to a Chick-fil-A, here's what you are missing...

...Chicken...

Don't get me wrong, it's good chicken, but that's it.  The fast food chain specialized in Chicken only, and actually has a pair of cows as mascots trying to convince you to "Eat Mor Chikn" and not, well, them.

The first Chick-fil-A in Idaho recently opened up in my home town.  And people went crazy for the stuff.

People lined up, days in advance, to be one of the first in line for this new Restaurant.  If you were one of the first 100 served, you would get free chicken for a year.

So what did people do?  They camped out.

Let's go back to a post I did a few days ago.  It's COLD in Idaho right now.  VERY COLD.  Why people would do this, free food or not, I can't fathom.

Chick-fil-A has fun themes from time to time.  For example, if you dress up like a cow, your meal is free.  I can't wait to see how many Idahoans actually do it...

In truth, I may be doing something similar to this in a few months.

You see... Chick-fil-A was only phase one in the "New Fast Food Chains" expansion into East Idaho.  What's next?

Mmmmm.... Western Bacon Cheeseburger....

  1. Aren't there better things to line up for than chicken?

I've never had Chick-fil-a but it can't be that good to camp out for.

If people in Idaho get this crazy over a fast food chain, I'd hate to see how they react to the opening of a Biffalo Wild Wings or something!

  2. Chic-fil-A has given millions to support anti-gay organizations. So, while I would want a sub-par deep fried Franken-chicken sandwich as much as the next guy lacking tastebuds, I can't support such a bigoted institution.
And camping out? Great way to spend your life. Yep, not grovelling to suckle at the teet of your overlords at all. No sir.

  3. The pickle speaks the truth. Good chicken, bad company.

  4. I love chicken. Love it. But even I will not camp out for it. Of course, I'm not going to camp for anything, but still.

  5. PLEASE DRESS UP LIKE A COW AND DOCUMENT IT.

  6. The exact same thing happened when they got one in Logan.

  7. We don't have chik-fil-a here. I would gladly dress up asa cow for free food. I know a few hobos who think as I do, too.

  8. Those sandwiches are absolutely delicious.

ANd Carl's Jr is better known as Hardee's on the east coast, and their 1/3 pound burgers are stellar.

  9. Oh, I love Chick-Fil-A! And those waffle fries are delicious. Ooh, have you tried one of their chocolate shakes? YUM. Now, I'm hungry.

  10. People actually camped out, in the open air for... Chicken? Worst still, fast food chicken. It would have to be diamond encrusted chicken to get me to brave the streets in a tent.

  11. Okay, before I say anything else, let me say this about Chick-fil-A sandwiches: They're fucking awesome! It's hard to make chicken taste as wonderful as they do, but every single sandwich is worth every single penny. Now... sleeping out in Idaho weather to get one? That's just nuts... but so is living in Idaho, so what're you gonna do?

The only bad thing about Chick-fil-A (other than their anti-gay bias, of which I was unaware until I read your previous comments) is that they're closed on Sunday. It is presumed to be the day in which they kill all of the chickens.

You really oughta move, Brandon... we'll look for a place down here. Call Mooner, he'll vouch for the hospitality factor we can offer!

  12. Chick-Fil-A is okay...nothing special. And I happen to love chicken. They're not open on Sundays, which is different. I dunno...I guess I just like more variety. Free chicken for a year is nothin to sneeze at though.

A few years ago Krispy Kreme made its way to CT and the traffic around it was insane for weeks. Then people realized that it's just coffee and donuts (really fatening ones that aren't even as good as Dunkin') and the novelty wore off. I bet that will happen up there with your Chick-Fil-A.

I've never been to a Carl's Jr but I've seen the ads. If I'm ever out west I'm def. gonna try it.

  13. My boss drives from Buffalo to Pennsylvania once a month to get Chick-Fil-A. He's a huge fan of theirs. I prefer them from breakfast. Their breakfast sandwiches are unbelievable. Also, they, by far, have the best customer service than any business I know. Not just any fast food restaurant, but any business.

  14. My initial thought upon reading this was "Seriously? Don't these people have better things to do? And then I remembered when I lived in Island Park. My answer then would have been no. No I do not. Where's my cow suit?"

But maybe not in the winter.

  15. Oh. And I wholeheartedly second Lady Estrogen!!!!!!

  16. Yep, you guys are nuts. Queueing in freezing weather for chicken.

But that said, I would happily see you in a cow suit.

  17. The 1st time I ever had Chick-Fil-A was in NC and I did enjoy it. We've had one here in NJ for about a year and I still haven't gone. And Sonic. I once drove 2.5 hours to go to one. We now have 2 and I never go.
