What's the deal with Google+?

Ok, so Google Plus has been around for a few months now, and I'm not seeing a lot of buzz anymore.

I'm on Google+, as the link will show you, but I'm still seeing much more traffic on Facebook and Twitter.

Have any of you had moderate successes with G+?

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I always like to stay abreast of the latest and greatest internet fad, but G+, to me, seems like a dud.

Please share your experiences and insights on G+ and let me know what you think.  Also, if you're on and haven't added me yet, please do so.  Thanks!

  1. I just put the blog on G+ as you know, and so far it hasn't generated much (if any) extra traffic.

People are creatures of habit, though, with kids on Facebook getting younger and younger, it's starting to turn into a MySpace clone.

I like G+ because it's clean, uncluttered, and it gets me away from the nonsense of FB every once and a while.

  2. You stay abreast and I'll stay with Blogger.

  3. I haven't ventured into the G+ site yet. I am on FB, twitter, and tumblr for now.

  4. I never bothered with G+. The last thing I need is another social media site to ignore.

  5. I think I'm on, not really sure. Of course I'm not some computer nerd who has time for all these social sites and everything. I have a twitter account, but only for the sake of sharing my blog.

I'm on facebook, but that is just a bunch of nonsense that I don't care for. I don't want to hear how someone brushed their teeth this morning and was late for work.

I try to find ways to promote my blog but lack the time to follow up on any of the crap I sign up for.

Google+ is a mystery to me!

  6. Yeah, I'm on it but I'm never ON it.

I'm not in love. It's not as intuitive and user friendly as I like things to be.

I was excited to have a social media playground for my bloggy friends and connections, but so far dud is definitely the word.

  7. I haven't tried it at all. I didn't even know you could cross it with blogger, but I guess I should have.

  8. I haven't tried it and don't plan on it. I'm on FB, Yelp, Twitter, and Foursquare and even all that social media connected-ness makes me feel a little crazy.

  9. What is Google Plus? I may have been using it along and didn't notice (yes, I can be that dense).

  10. I am pretty sure that I have one as well but I have no idea what the F it is. Same with that Klout nonsense...totally lost! Oh well.

  11. Just give it time. Facebook started off differently, where as google just expected everyone to use it and go.

I give it a year before it's actually meaningful.

  12. I was digging G+ when it first made its entrance, but that also had something to do with being annoyed at FB. I like the idea of "circles" on G+ - but it gets to be a bit cumbersome. I guess it's just a learning curve and finding your "comfort cruise" level, just like with anything new. I'm with D4 - I think it'll take some time before it really gets into full swing. I'll be glad when it does because I am just about as sick of FB as I can be - yet, I remain in its death-like grips because I am such a nosey bitch.

  13. I was excited to finally get on Google + but now that I'm on it, it's kinda boring and not what I thought it would be. I barely check my page, maybe once a week at the most. It's just not the hot new thing they thought it was gonna be.

  14. Dammit, Daft, you beat me to the punchline. lol

    Yes, stay abreast, please.

Also? I don't know what the eff is going on with it. I have enough shizz to check every day.

  15. I find it funny that some people are saying FB has too many pre-teen girls. Why would that bother you unless you add them as friends? Not like you have to see their posts and pictures right?

I opened a google+ thing a few months back, but no one uses it. It kind of died. The only people who use google+ now are hipsters. The people who think anything popular is uncool. So they go to the "totally indie spot" that "no one's ever heard of". The thick frame glasses in their profile pictures are probably just being worn ironically too. -_-
