So I looked around at other sources. Most caused pop-ups or the "Congratulations! Click here and win an iPad (and a ton of viruses)" messages.
So I finally gave up and said "Fuck it. I'm doing my own thing."
And so far, I like being my own boss.
I'm sure you've seen the 'advertise here' buttons placed strategically around my blog. You may have been so bold as to look at my advertising page. Well, I'm happy to report that these are slowly but surely getting filled. Hopefully I'll be adding some testimonials soon from happy customers (hint hint...).
I currently have 2 bloggers advertising on my site:
The first is Zombies Everywhere, an awesome site dedicated to the undead. Here you can learn fun zombie facts, what to do if found in a gaggle of zombies, and what you need to do to prepare yourself for Z-Day (which is coming soon, you better go there and read up...).
The next blogger is a slight contrast from Z.E. It is Beyond the Borderline Personality, a blog which discusses Borderline Personality Disorder, Passive-Aggressive behaviors, and, well, a lot. Reading about the anxiety of getting a tattoo done coupled with the pride and confidence when the initial sitting was done is absolutely amazing. This wordsmith paints pictures in your mind that will leave you breathless.
And since I follow both blogs, it's that extra little stamp of awesomeness.
Now, I can't guarantee results. Z has been running an ad for nearly 2 weeks, so hopefully he has some kind words to share (dude, that's your cue). Those in the blogging world know, however, that the key to growing your blog is marketing your site in as many ways as possible.
And that's exactly what I want to help you do. Market yourself to an audience that you can tap. I'm currently at 650 followers, 400-600 pageviews a day (depending on the post) and I've amassed about 5100 comments in only 5 1/2 months. The interaction on this site is bumpin.
Scan it. You know you want to. |
As always with marketing, the more you stand out, the more you're going to attract people.
And if you don't have a creative bone in your body, fret not. I can help you design an ad (for a fee, of course), re-size graphics, or customize space to fit your needs.
After all... when whoring yourself out, the flexible whores tend to get more customers....
I'm too lazy to design my own. LOL! I like the idea though. I think your rates are very reasonable and because you have a kajillion followers, people will get hits. If I can figure out how I'd want to advertise, I might just take you up on one of these offers you have for my radio show. Lord knows I could use some help with its promo.
ReplyDeleteI like the way you're going about the ad stuff. Adsense is BS. I use it now, but am probably going to take it down it just doesn't do anything for me.
ReplyDeleteAmazon has been slightly better.
Maybe once you fill all your ads I'll have hire you to be my marketing consultant.

Werk it! :)
ReplyDeleteI would like to make some advertising on my blog at some point. But not until I've reached some sort of famosity :) Maybe an in post advertisement? I dunno. I'm still a bit far from my "famosity" threshold.
Hope you're having a great weekend. And awesome two people have filled the slots!
I’m still waiting for that inevitable e-mail from some big name company asking me to advertise their products so I can sell out faster than a fruit shop in a neighborhood full of nymphomaniacs.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see someone making some money their own way! love the blog, would be adspace but no money yet! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely sentiment. I will be sure to let you know how I do since having my ad put up.
ReplyDeleteI'm primarily concerned with educating and providing information about mental health to reverse the stigma and display one journey of healing (my own). Thank you for allowing me to take up a little of your space =)
I need to get my blog advertised on here. But I would have to ask you to design it for me.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, and I love that it keeps the advertising within the blogging community so it's something I may (and have) click on. Bonus, both sites, Zombie and Haven, are great blogs.
ReplyDeleteIf I wasn't poorer than a homeless person's dog's chew toy, I'd be all over this.
I love how proactive you are about this! I am soooo tempted to snatch up one of the remaining spots. Maybe if there are any left in August I will (I'm going to the BlogHer conference in a few weeks, which is a TOTAL splurge, and I don't know how the hubby would feel about even more blog expenses [despite your totally great rates].)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your own ads, I'd like to see how it works as I'm skeptical if anyone will take you up on your offer.
ReplyDeleteI love that you are being inovative with this. This sort of thing does work. I had a button on Red Means Go for while (at a price) and gained a reasonable amount of traffic.
ReplyDeleteJust dont make me pay to have you guest on my blog. (hint hint)
I'm for sale too.
ReplyDeleteI write about things that attract the horny masses in the blogosphere. (:
Although it's more for ego strokage than money. lol.
Yes, flexibility goes far in customer satisfaction... you must do yoga...Good luck on the pimpin' yourself friend!
