I will remember this day.
This day was the day a small piece of me died inside.
First off, it was snowing.
WHAT. THE FUCK... |
Hey snow. It's April. It's Spring. Go away.
My day progressed as a typical day up here does. Went to work, did my thing, ended the day.
Then... THIS happened.
The ceremonious 'changing of the plates' |
My tags from Cali were expired, and I FINALLY broke down and got my car titled & tagged up here.
Yes, my car's plates now have "Famous Potatoes" on them.
This, coupled with Thursday's post is making me feel more and more rooted in Idaho, which makes me a SAAAAD PAANDA....
My cell number is still a 909. I'm hanging onto that. At least, for now...
I feel your pain... It didn't snow in WI today (THANK GOD) but it's still way too fucking cold for Spring. Things are looking up soon though!
ReplyDeleteAnd I let out a big fat "OWW!" over the license plate.
ReplyDeleteI'm attached to somewhere that's fun & sunny & has a lot, and live up in New England, so I feel your extra bit of pain about seeing snow in Spring.
Yikes. I'd be sad to see it go as well. I am sorry that you died a little inside but hey...My Own Private California doesn't have the same ring to it...time to move on. :-) Happy Friday.
ReplyDeleteFeel your pain there :)
ReplyDeleteFamous.Potatoes.
ReplyDeleteOh lol.
awwww... I hope you gave your California plate a proper burial. It deserves that much for putting up with all out terrible traffic.
ReplyDeleteI've lived in California 16 months. I still have a Montana drivers license. And a 406 number.
ReplyDeleteI feel you.
:( Don't be a sad panda!
ReplyDeleteI hope your luck changes soon!
Haha enjoy your famouse potato
ReplyDeleteor you cold drive to Cali and register your car there
haha i guess about time!
ReplyDeleteit was bound to happen my friend...
ReplyDeleteJeez, I know just how you feel. Famous potatoes. Oh dear!
ReplyDeleteFamous potatoes? I'm very hungry now..
ReplyDeleteThat is a sad day! :O
ReplyDeleteIdaho doesn't make you do smog testing like California does. Bad for the environment, but good for you!
ReplyDeleteChange is hard, acceptance is even more painful. For the record, I have been in my current state for a long time and am still rocking my previous state plates. I hate change and feel your pain! I held on to my old cell area code for so long I ended up moving back to where it was local. You never know....
ReplyDeleteOh shit! It's now official...you belong to Idaho now! Just take the old plates and just hang them in your room...and masturbate to them...that's what I would do ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are slowly being assimilated! They are drilling into your brain! Get out before it's to late!
ReplyDeleteSnow in April sucks. I know what you mean. We still have snow here in Canada.
ReplyDeleteDon't be sad. Be happy. The land of taters is the land that keeps on givin'. I feel your pain about that snow, man. I live in the Hoosier state. I went outside a took a picture of it snowing in May one year. Un-fuckin-believable! In the Midwest, any type of weather is possible any time of the year.
ReplyDeleteOh man! Congratz on your Idaho plates. Now you're pretty much stuck there
ReplyDeleteSad times - at least you have the same cell number... having moved around a bit myself the last thing to go usually is the accent.
ReplyDeleteYea, cell phones are pretty easy not to change. I'm still rocking a number from 6 residences and 4 states ago!
ReplyDeleteYo dawg, FAMOUS POTATOES?! So NOT cool. And you can hold on to that cell phone # with your famous area code...but I guarantee...it will change too. I resisted giving up my South Florida 954 area code FOREVER! But eventually...I acquiesed, and succumbed to a local area code # for my cell phone - mostly so that my son's school (which won't dial long distance) could reach me if necessary.
ReplyDeleteindeed a sd day
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't feel bad, man. It's like a lot of people have said in these comments, you will always be a tourist there no matter how long you stay. I would just keep the plate up on your wall as a reminder of your roots though, and you never know when it might come in handy again!
ReplyDeletewait...I don't get it...did you write that famous potatoes? lol, fucking lol!
ReplyDeleteLet it go brotha!...ok, you're not my brother, but I liked the sound of that.
ReplyDeleteI have no words of comfort. I'm an airforce brat. I can't even count the amount of times I had to say goodbye to a license plate I held near and dear to my heart.
Save the Cali one? Frame it? Tuck it into bed with you at night?
This is awesome post! Love it! keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteYou're official! You're an official Ida-ho. Wait. What do they call yo guys up there? Do they have Ida-pimps? How did you end up in ID again?
ReplyDeletefamous potatoes
ReplyDeletewell I've never seen that before!
909? Even I was cool enough to get a 951 number when I got back here-FOR SHAME!!!
ReplyDeletehed
@Hed: I was 909 before there was a 951. When the split happened, I was living in the 951, but they didn't move my phone over. I was initially pissed, but then moved to Grand Terrace. Then Rancho Cucamonga. Both 909'ers. It all worked out in the end.
ReplyDeleteDo you remember when we were 714's?
